My goals redefined:

More often than not, I wonder if this website has any purpose at all. While
several friends say I am doing a great service to Telugu fiction, I always
have my own doubts.

However, a couple of days ago, I received two letters that restored my faith
in my objectives. Made me feel like there is a slightest chance this might be worth something.

One is from a young man who said he enjoyed the Telugu stories on my
site. Usually, I get appreciative comments from readers closer to my age.
Anytime, current generation readers compliment, I feel like I am still alive :).

The second letter was from a professor [emeritus], an American friend for over 20 years, who is also interested in Indian literature. Her words defined my direction one more time.
Usually, she and I meet once year for a cup of coffee but, I haven't heard
from her for over three years. Nevertheless, I sent a copy of my book,
A
Spectrum of My People
, to her as soon as I received my copies.

The professor wrote to me yesterday that she liked my work, more
specifically, the story about the mother-in-law who wanted to teach the
midwife skills to her daughter-in-law. (Village Psychic by Vasa Prabhabati.)

I was thrilled to see the comment. That is what the stories are about, what
my goal has been for the past six and a half years!. It is about reintroducing
the values and lifestyles that are fast disappearing. We cannot understand
our present unless we know our past. Unfortunately, these are the kinds of
details that are vanishing from our developing civilization.

Probably, for most of you, this may not mean much. But, to me, it meant
worlds. So, if it does mean something to you, please spend a minute on it
and support Thulika accomplish that goal.

Thanks,

Malathi Nidadavolu
